Due to a rapidly increasing workload, Maginus are looking for a Senior Front End Developer to join their team and help to deliver exciting and challenging responsive eCommerce projects. Although this is a hands-on technical / development role, the ideal candidate will have a strong design background, an eye for detail and a creative flair – we work with some high profile clients and there is plenty of opportunity to drive forwards innovation within the Digital Commerce space.
In addition to technical experience, genuine enthusiasm is key to this role so we hope to hear from applicants who enjoy researching the area, proactively furthering their skills and sharing and debating new ideas. We are also looking for someone who works well in a multi-disciplined team as we have a range of skills and abilities in-house, so you will need to be well versed in communicating complex, technical matters, in a clear and concise manner.
A Front End Developer is an individual that is able to drive forward the User / Customer Experience (UX/CX) of one or more Digital projects; primarily working within the eCommerce vertical.
The candidate would need to remain at the forefront of technology and apply new development techniques to projects.
They are able to contribute to a large number of technical areas of an implementation / design with limited guidance and input from other team members; this doesn’t mean they work in isolation, it means they have acquired skills and experience that enables them to be technically self-sufficient.
A Senior Front End Developer has a good knowledge of development languages and tools, standards and technologies and look to actively improve their technical skills and those of others around them with the vision of mentoring junior staff.
Conduct cross browser compatibility tests and bug fixing.
Find solutions to any technical issues.
In addition to completing technical work, a Senior Developer will also help other technical staff. A Senior Front End Developer works closely with the back-end development team and must be well-versed in communicating design and technology choices.
3 + years’ experience within an IT organisation or digital agency.
3 + years’ experience working within the eCommerce sector.
Educated to degree level.
Able to manage your own workload and prioritise work based on the team objectives.
Able to make sound decisions based on good UX and be able to communicate your reasoning effectively.
Good knowledge of Photoshop, Adobe XD.
Understanding of good UI / UX techniques.
Examples of eCommerce sites which illustrate design flair and UX considerations.
Knowledge and experience working with the responsive front end framework Bootstrap.
Strong knowledge of build stacks, including NPM, Grunt, LESS/SASS.
A good understanding of agile workflows.
Experience with SVN and confident using Git for version control.
Understanding of QA processes and cross browser testing.
Experience working with CMS packages.
Understanding of component based development to ensure reusability and extend-ability.
Build with the requirements for accessibility and SEO in mind.
User interface design.
Experience working with server side technologies, especially PHP/C#.
Experience of integrating with third-party API’s including MVT testing tools.
Experience working in Visual Studio.
Test automation within a front-end framework.
Experience of Episerver would be helpful, but not essential.
Prototyping: Wireframes and mock-ups.
Efficiency: Working to client deadlines.
Engineering Principles: Able to design solutions using sound engineering principles.
Problem Solving: A rational and logical thinker.
Human Computer Interaction and User Experience: User Experience, Responsive design.
Verbal and non-Verbal Communication Skills: Able to communicate with customers and colleagues in a variety of forms.
Issue Resolution: Able to methodically investigate and resolve issues.
Salary from £30,000 - £40,000 basic depending on experience.
